Digital Links Environmental Policy

Digital Links has a strong environmental policy. We work to ensure the reuse of any suitable computer hardware. Digital Links also ensures that:

  • Non-reusable equipment collected is fully recycled
  • Redistributed computers are in working condition and have several years of life remaining.
  • Computers are sent using the most carbon-efficient method of transportation available - sea freight in full containers
  • Computers are sent in compliance with national and international legislation, and with the full support of recipient Governments
  • Recipients are trusted partners who have responsible practices in place for computers when they finally come to the end of their lives

Digital Links is fully compliant with the WEEE directive and we currently do everything possible to minimize our impact on the environment. We already recycle any piece of IT equipment that we collect but cannot reuse, in line with our 0% landfill policy. We also ensure that collections are organised so that vans are used to their maximum capacity.

In addition, we are one of the only organisations in this sector looking into the issue of end-of-life recycling for computers in Africa. Recycling in both the UK and in developing countries is a key priority for Digital Links and will remain so going forward.
