Support and Advice

We are happy to advise NGO’s or developing country governments on how to develop their IT infrastructure in a cost-effective way. We also have several other partner organisations that we can call on to give advice on a range of related subjects from IT training of teachers, to wireless networking. We are committed to working in partnership and always looking for ways to add value to other projects and initiatives through sharing our own specialist knowledge and contacts.

As an example, we are involved in project to research into environmentally responsible ways to recycle computers which reach the end of their life in developing countries, without either endangering local people or causing any harm to the environment.

We have also carried out a study in conjunction with the Department for International Development (DfID) and the Kenyan Ministry of Education into the feasibility of using ICT’s for in-service training of teachers in Kenya.

At the Computers for Schools Kenya workshop, non-working computers are broken down, and wherever possible components are reused. Digital Links and CfSK have been working hard to enable the complete recycling of donated PCs once they finally reach the end of their lives.
