Although we send full containers of computers directly to universities or civil-society institutions, most of our computers are distributed though carefully selected distribution partners. Distribution partners have the capacity to handle the computers in large quantities. They test equipment after shipping, and carry out any necessary repairs. They also provide training for recipients, help them set up and maintain their computers at low cost, and work to ensure that the eventual disposal of end of life machines does not harm the environment. Distribution partners are a vital bridge between Digital Links and the recipients of the computers.
We are always looking for new distribution partners who can help us reach even more disadvantaged communities.
A distributor could be an existing charity, a voluntary organisation which is well networked with schools, a non-governmental organisations (NGO). Alternatively, it could be a part of a government ministry such as a teacher training college. We are also keen to work with socially responsible commercial organisations, with the capacity and the vision to provide computers at low cost to schools, hospitals, charities, and small scale entrepreneurs. Our distributors are reputable and financially secure organisations with good links to individuals and organisations in one or more of the main development sectors such as education, health, or small enterprise development.
Once we have identified potential distribution partners, we will support them on a number of levels.
