Our Overseas Network

In-Country Distribution Partners

The Digital Links model requires strong partnerships on the ground with the distribution agencies and NGOs in the partner countries. Central to Digital Links’ success is a network of distribution partners capable of facilitating PC distribution, lab set-up, networking, training and ongoing maintenance.

Digital Links has developed a strong network of local distribution partners capable of handling, testing and distributing computers to end users and providing training and support to ensure they are well used and maintained. The distribution partners also operate as social entrepreneurs, focusing on achieving public good whilst building sustainable operations. They often grow to become successful businesses, serving as a model to their immediate communities.

Digital Links support their distribution partners in a number of ways, including:

  • Assist to access funding for purchase of PCs
  • Provide low-cost operating systems, software, and network equipment, and free educational software.
  • Facilitate information sharing and best practice. For example: use of alternative solutions such as thin client systems and processes of end-run recycling of components from non-working machines.
  • Develop and provide Africa-specific Hardware and Maintenance Manual on CD-Rom in English and French.
  • E-learning programme (pilot) to be deployed in Ghana, Rwanda and India. Leverage work done by Digital Links and in country partners to develop best of breed IT digital learning curriculum to be delivered by trainers or self-studied by students.
  • End of life recycling solution for the removal of hazardous e-waste in Africa by re-importing materials from over 3,500 end of life PCs back to UK for proper safe disposal.
