End-of-Life Recycling
Digital Links is one of the only organisations of its kind working to build self-sustaining recycling initiatives in Africa when computers eventually reach the end of their useful lives.
As in the UK, after an average of 3-5 years equipment must be replaced. Given that there is little safe processing available in Africa, Digital Links is working to build on the knowledge of local stakeholders to develop self-sustaining small scale recycling initiatives on the continent.
In the meantime, Digital Links has developed a pilot program in
cooperation with distribution partners to ensure that non-reusable PC
components are shipped back to Europe for safe disposal.
Distribution partners, in accordance with Digital Links’ environmental
policy, will arrange collection of end of life units for processing
through our recycling initiatives.
